We concluded the year with an engaging AMR Frontline Workshop at CSIR-CCMB on December 26, 2024, as part of the MedSRT program—a month-long research training initiative at CCMB for 30 competitively selected MBBS students from across the country. Organized by Superheroes Against Superbugs (SaS), the workshop focused on the growing challenges of Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR).

The session began with Dr. Radhika Soanker (AIIMS Bibinagar), who provided an insightful overview of the WHO Global Action Plan and GLASS 2015, emphasizing the importance of AMR surveillance and the use of AMS e-learning resources from IDSA and WHO to promote responsible antibiotic use. Dr. Sivaranjani Santosh (Magna Centres) led an interactive discussion on effectively communicating with parents about antibiotic use, home remedies, and vaccine hesitancy. She shared practical strategies for building trust within communities and promoting responsible antibiotic use without yielding to external pressures.

The workshop featured engaging, hands-on learning activities, making AMR education both informative and fun. Participants took part in newly introduced games, including: KAHOOT PK/PD Quiz – A fast-paced challenge testing pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics knowledge. Code Red: The Prescription Hunt Challenge – A problem-solving activity focused on appropriate antibiotic prescriptions. AMR Battle Bingo – A strategic game reinforcing key AMR concepts. The workshop highlight featured
The Resistance Riddle – Break the AMR Code, a first-of-its-kind AMR-themed escape room, provided an immersive learning experience, blending critical thinking with interactive problem-solving. This innovative approach made AMR education more impactful and engaging for participants.

This workshop served as a vital platform to equip future medical professionals with the knowledge and tools to address AMR, reinforcing the importance of stewardship and evidence-based medical practices.
