Superheroes against Superbugs (SaS) served as the knowledge partner at the DBT-CTEP-sponsored two-day international conclave on Antimicrobial Resistance at PSGR Krishnammal College For Women, Coimbatore. The event aimed to address the pressing issue of antimicrobial resistance (AMR) and foster collaboration among stakeholders.

During the event, Dr. Ponnari Gottipati, Co-Lead, SaS, delivered a talk on “Engaging Young People in AMR Awareness,” highlighting the crucial role of youth in raising awareness and driving change in AMR prevention and control efforts. She also participated as a panelist in a thought-provoking Panel Discussion on One Health.

The conclave witnessed a significant turnout, with approximately 350 participants attending each day. Among the attendees were undergraduates, postgraduates, and research scholars from various colleges across Tamil Nadu, reflecting the widespread interest in combating AMR.

A notable aspect of the conclave was the proactive involvement of the students of PSGR Krishnammal College For Women. These students have been actively organizing AMR awareness activities for colleges and villages around Coimbatore over the past year. Their dedication and commitment culminated in the success of this event, underscoring the importance of grassroots initiatives in combating AMR.

 

Overall, the conclave provided a platform for meaningful discussions, knowledge exchange, and collaborative efforts aimed at addressing the multifaceted challenges posed by antimicrobial resistance.
