On September 26th, we took our community outreach effort, “Magnetize Your Creativity,” to the Centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology (CCMB) for its Open Day celebrations (on the occasion of its parent body- CSIR’s 82nd Foundation Day). This occasion drew an enthusiastic crowd of 10,000+ people, with over 1000 visitors witnessing the display of our AMR mural and more than 280 individuals, ranging from young students and teachers to CCMB staff, engaging hands-on in creating fridge magnets focused on the theme of AMR.

The event was enriched by the presence of our AMR mural, which stayed at the campus for ten days before its stint at the AIC-CCMB campus, known for fostering innovation in the field of cellular and molecular biology. The mural’s message served as a focal point for the day, inspiring a diverse group of participants to delve into the critical issue of AMR through the medium of art.

Participants at CCMB embraced the unique opportunity to combine art with awareness, creating personalized fridge magnets that symbolize the collective fight against AMR. This hands-on activity allowed people from various backgrounds to express their concerns and hopes regarding AMR in a creative and tangible form. These crafted magnets are envisioned as conversation starters, encouraging dialogue and reflection on AMR in everyday settings.

The choice to host “Magnetize Your Creativity” at CCMB underscored the importance of connecting scientific research with public awareness efforts. By bringing together individuals from different walks of life, the event highlighted the role of community involvement in tackling global health challenges, showcasing how creativity and science can intersect to foster understanding and action on AMR.
