This World Antimicrobial Awareness Week (WAAW), Superheroes against Superbugs (SaS) is bringing a critical conversation on Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) into a bar. We are partnering with Pint of View Gurgaon for a Lecture over Drinks — an accessible, community-led format inspired by US’s Lectures on Tap movement, where classroom-style talks meet craft cocktails in a relaxed pub setting.

We are excited to host Dr. Esmita Charani, for an engaging talk titled “Oops! We (mis)used it again: Understanding how antibiotic exposure fuels the rise of drug-resistant infections.

Dr. Charani is a Associate Professor and Wellcome Trust Career Development Fellow at the University of Cape Town. Her research investigates how social, cultural, and economic factors shape antibiotic use — particularly in low- and middle-income countries — and how more equitable stewardship systems can be built across hospitals, communities, and health systems. Her insights draw from fieldwork across South Africa and India, where she studies the everyday realities behind antibiotic access, use, and misuse.
